Regular car servicing is the best way to keep your car running reliably and efficiently. It also helps to avoid the common issues that often cause MOT failures. At Sharpthorne Village Garage we can service all makes, marques, and models.

It is important to compare what a garage includes in their servicing package. We offer two types of service, an Interim Service and a Full Service. The details of these services are listed below but our Interim Service offers as much as some garages would consider a full service.

We always use top quality oils and fluids (coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid, screenwash etc.) and OE (Original Equipment) quality parts that come with a guarantee that will be replaced under warranty should the need arise.

*Antifreeze is checked for correct consistency required for summer cooling and winter frost protection. Brake fluid is checked for contamination by water, dirt etc. A brake fluid change will incur a charge of £40.00+vat.

Do I need my Cambelt Changed?

We are often asked this and it is a very good question as not changing a cambelt in time can be very costly. Not all cars require a cambelt change and we can advise you on when and if a cambelt change is due on your car. It is very important to replace your cambelt when it is due. If a cambelt breaks or slips due to excessive wear your engine could be severely damaged, please see our guide on cambelts.

Maintaining Your Manufacturer's Warranty (Block Exemption)

New rules mean you do not need to take your car to the main dealer to protect your car's manufacturer's warranty. European Block Exemption laws came in on 1st June 2010 and they enable customers to get their cars serviced outside of dealer networks.

Manufacturers can not invalidate your guarantee for not using a franchised dealer, as long as the garage follows the maker’s service schedule and uses original equipment parts. Everything must be documented even down to the grade of oil which is used. That is because if something goes wrong with your car, the manufacturer may claim the fault is down to a below-par service.

Sharpthorne Village Garage always uses original equipment parts (unless specified otherwise by the customer) and itemises everything on the bill including the grades of oil and fluids.

Courtesy Car

A courtesy car is available by prior arrangement. The use of the courtesy car is subject to terms and conditions and driven under the customers own insurance. We can also collect and deliver your car locally, again by prior arrangement.

Repairs

If we discover your car needs repairs during its service we can generally do these on the same day. We will always advise you of costs outside of the service before undertaking any additional work.

We can carry out mechanical repairs and minor body repairs such as replacing door mirrors or trim etc. An auto-electrician can be booked by prior arrangement to sort out any car electrical problems.
